Earth Day
Happy Earth Day!
logo by adrienne hires
What are you doing to stop global warming? Are you taking any steps to reverse the environmental destruction taking place around planet Earth? Find out what is going on in your town to make a big change. Make some phone calls to your local leaders to do something big to solve climate change. Sign a petition to tell the US Congress to take action.

What am I doing to make a difference? I am planting a tree in my yard. I will make sure none of my water faucets and toilets leak. I am going to look for ways to clean my home using non-toxic chemicals. I am going to take shorter showers. I am going to write a letter to my local leaders, to encourage them to start up a recycling program in my area. I am going to wear green. I am going try out my green thumb and plant a garden this spring. I am going to try and make a compost for said garden. I already purchase my food in bulk to save on packaging. I clean my home using non-toxic chemicals. I don’t use disposable dishes/plates. I use compact florensent light blubs. I hang dry my clothes on a line outside. I request paperless statements for all of my bills.
Make a change! Every little bit helps!

Monday::Mosaic|Abstract Photos
Hi everyone. I’m back. I had an amazing weekend with my family. We spent Friday at the beach (the waves were up and a little rough, so we didn’t spend much time in the water), we went up to the North Shore of Kauai on Saturday, and spent Sunday lazing around the house. We had lots of great food, good conversations and lots of fun memories. I’ll be back to post some pictures, once I get them edited and out of my camera.

While browsing through flickr I found the most amazing photos. I was browsing through abstract and macro photo tags. There are some simply amazing photographers out there sharing their work on flickr. Here are some of the photos I was drawn too and added to my favs.
1. Entrelazamientos, 2. Blue over green with vent and bolt, 3. technicoloured rainbow, 4. idem., 5. Solar Flare, 6. Pulling Pipes, 7. An old green door, 8. A landscape of paint, 9. Patterns in the Wall, 10. trash parade, 11. Abstract, 12. Seriously Distressed, 13. colors, 14. Left Foot Right Foot, 15. expression, 16. Blue on blue & white
Looking back at my photo mosaic, I see that I was inspired by blues and greens and the photos with lots of depth and texture. This is getting printed out and added to my inspiration board.

Mother’s Day Cards
I’ve finally had time to take some pictures of a Mother’s day card I printed. This morning, the sun was perfect for taking pictures.
The card is printed on fine 260gsm linen cover stock, this card measures 4.25×5.5 and comes paired up with a rhubarb red European pointed flap envelope, sealed in a clear cello sleeve. card features a small simply embellish logo on the back.
front of card reads - mother: to watch over, nourish & protect maternally.
the inside is left blank for your sentiment.
You can find my card here. I’m also holding a random drawing for my loyal readers. Just leave a comment in this post and I’ll pick the winning post number next week Wednesday.

New Photographer Find
I was browsing the forums over at etsy and I found a great new photographer. Her name is Jennifer Squires and she is a fantastic real life photographer.
“I’ve been a photographer since 1996 and I am currently based out of London, Ontario, Canada. I am inspired by the world around me and I use my art to search for simplicity and meaning in the beauty of the everyday.”
Here are a few of my favorite photos…
I especially love Jennifer’s food prints. The rice and artichoke prints have gone into my wish list.
You can see more of Jennifer’s work here.

Do you do it? eco-friendly grocery bags
so have you jumped on the band wagon by using the plethora of eco-friendly or “green” grocery bags that are out there in the market?? I haven’t, but I think I have a good reason not too. I re-use my bags, every single one. I have a cute little plastic grocery bag holder in my kitchen (that I made in home-ec when I was still in school) and I save each bag that comes into my home. I use these bags to line my smaller trash cans for the bedrooms, office and bathrooms. I also have a toddler still in diapers, so his stinky diapers get wrapped in a plastic bag and thrown away. I also use the bags as padding when mailing out packages. I really would like to use the “green” bags, besides the fact that I’d be going green, there are so many really cute bags out there. And I’d like to have the store clerk at my local grocery store stop telling me to buy the store’s green grocery bag and give me a disapproving look when I decline, every time I go in to make a purchase.
I saw these really cute bags via Creature Comforts last week and loved them. These are really fashionable and they have something for everyone.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention some re-usable grocery totes for sale over at etsy. Here’s a sampling of my favorites.
1. mpatrizio::Organic Cotton Tote Bag - Shopping Grocery Bag
2. CottonCandyBoutique::Bag 70, Geisha Sling Tote
3. stacey9014::Retro Red Rosemary -Shopping Bag
4. TTCollections::Retro-patterned Market Bag
What do you all do?

I have the best husband

I have the best husband in the world. He just got back from Oahu on a business trip and brought me back a special treat. I’ve been craving Ruby Tuesday mini burgers with avocado ranch dip. And he stopped at Ruby Tuesday’s on the way to the airport and hand carried them back for me. Isn’t he the greatest?
