Tuesday::Things|Old T-Shirts
If your household is anything like mine, you probably have tons of old t-shirts in your drawers and closets. Half of them, I can’t even remember how or where I got them from, the rest are those “freebie” promotional shirts that business like to pass out. As I’ve started to get my house cleaned and organized for our new little addition, I’ve come to the realization that between my husband and I, we have way too many unused t-shirts. I’d hate to throw them out and I know our local thrift stores are overloaded with t-shirts, so I googled “how to re-purpose old t-shirts” and I was amazed at all of the wonderful projects out there. There are a few of my favs.

I personally love the T-Shirt reusable grocery bags featured on MarthaStewart.com, and I think I’ll make me some of those… They look easy enough.

Happy Children’s Day!
Koinibori
Kodomo no Hi or Children’s Day is a Japanese national holiday. It is a day set aside to respect children’s personalities and to celebrate their happiness. I am not Japanese, but here in Hawaii, Children’s day is widely celebrated. I don’t exactly know what I’m supposed to do to celebrate this Japanese holiday other than make Koinobori. A koinobori is a carp-shaped wind-sock flown to celebrate children’s day. The koinobori are using flown in groups, with the largest carp at the top representing the father, the second carp representing the mother and the third representing the children.

Today, my lil guy and I will make our own koinobori out of white kraft paper. I’ll come back later with pictures.

Saturday:Cute Craft

I saw this pillow case bag while browsing Martha Stewart dot com. Isn’t it the cutest? I’ve got to check out my local thrift stores to find some rocking vintage pillow cases and try this one out. My dearest husband bought me a sewing machine a few years back and I’m sad to admit the only thing I’ve sewn using that machine is some curtains.
